41 Benefits of an e-Portfolio?

The recent post by Karen Barnstable is an excellent collection of benefits that is hard to improve upon. However, all readers from around the world should read her post and preferably comment back to me or Karen or both!

She clearly identifies three separate areas of benefit: the Student, the teacher and the institution. However, whilst writing this, I realised that she missed out another area possibly the most important, particularly for younger learners, that of the parent.

Ray, I couldn't agree with you more. An extensive and exhaustive list indeed, but I'm in agreement with you about the the parent connection piece omission. Through the use of ePortfolio methodology and other networked, digital technologies, I believe the question, "What did you do in school today?" will become a thing of the past.

I also just want to pass along a "Thank you" for your work here at your blog. Your blog and Helen Barrett's are two bodies of work on the topic of ePortfolio learning that I visit when I'm struggling with my efforts to broaden the use of portfolio pedagogies in my school community.
